What's New

MMSync 2.0 has the following improvements over MMSync 1.0

  • An actual User Interface!!
  • The ability to customize the location of mm.txt. You're no longer forced to store the file in \My Documents\Business\mm.txt. Now it can be stored in any My Documents folder, or even in a My Documents folder on a storage card.
  • The ability to run MMSync with no interaction required. No more annoying confirmation dialogs.
  • Support for non-US style date format. (The default is still US). If your Meeting Maker exports the date as dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy, just select the appropriate date format.
  • Running console shows you entries as they're imported. Useful for people who like to know what's going on.
  • Compatible with Windows CE 3.0 for PocketPC, PocketPC 2002, and Windows Mobile 2003

Requirements

You will need ActiveSync and Meeting Maker installed on the computer you synchronize with. File synchronization must be enabled.

Installation

Simply copy the MMSync.exe file to your PocketPC using Explorer. Or if you have connectivity from your PocketPC, just download the file directly to your device. I recommend storing the executable in \Windows\Start Menu on your PocketPC so you can run it easily from there. Alternatively, you could put it somewhere else and just create a shortcut on your Start menu.

Use

Go to Meeting Maker, and select Export from the File menu. Make sure the Calendar checkbox is selected. Set the date range to whatever you desire, or accept the defaults. From the Type of export dropdown, select Meeting Maker Text Export. Click OK.

When prompted to save the file, you must save it to your PocketPC My Documents directory. The file should have a .txt extension. For the purposes of this exercise, we will assume you named it mm.txt. The goal here is for the exported text file to end up somewhere in \My Documents on your PocketPC device.

Once the mm.txt file has synchronized to your device, you can run MMSync on your PocketPC. Simply click it. When the MMSync UI appears, you can use the Browse button to locate the file you saved to your device. For example, \My Documents\mm.txt. Once you've selected the file, ensure that your Date Format is correct, then click the Import Now button to load all of your calendar appointments into your Pocket Outlook calendar. All appointments are loaded with a category of MMSyncCE. This ensures that they are identifiably separate from your other appointments. Now that you've imported your appointments, you can click Close to close MMSync.

Other things you can do:

Known Issues

Synchronization is one-way only. You can view Meeting Maker appointments on your PocketPC, but any changes you make can not be updated back to Meeting Maker.

Meeting attendees are not synchronized. Since Meeting Maker's text export doesn't contain attendee information, I can't add it to the meeting notes. However, all other pertinent information is synchronized: Time, Location, Agenda.

MMSync has been tested with Meeting Maker 6.x. Users report that it also works with the following:
